Educator Corner
Inventors Edition: Big Ideas Start Small

Every invention starts with a simple idea.

A question.
A problem.
A β€œwhat if?”

Inventors don’t always get it right the first time. In fact, most don’t. They try, adjust, fail, and try again. That’s where the real learning happens.

So here’s a simple idea for your classroom today:

Give students a chance to think like inventors.

Take a few minutes to brainstorm:

What is a small problem you see at school or at home?
What’s something that could be easier, faster, or more fun?
If you could invent anything to help, what would it be?

Then have students sketch or describe their idea.

No pressure. No perfect answers.

Just creativity.

Check out more inventor questions and ideas in today’s First Five. You never know, you might spark the next great inventor.

It’s a quick way to build problem-solving, imagination, and confidence, while showing students that their ideas have value.

Because big ideas don’t start big.

They start with someone willing to think differently.
