Videos: “Your Shift From TikTok to Teaching.”
Let’s talk about videos. Not the 45 minute documentary. Studies show kids can’t sit through that without checking out. I’m talking about short, intentional clips, the kind that actually grab students’ attention.
Our students are already scrolling, watching, and reacting. So why not bring that habit into the classroom? A bridge or doorway, not just to content, but to connection.
The right video can shift the energy in the room. It can create curiosity and get that one kid who hasn’t said a word all week to suddenly raise their hand and say, “Wait, I’ve got something to say about that.” Videos are visual storytelling, and storytelling is the oldest form of education. That shared language provides an on ramp for students to move into deeper thinking.
Short videos can be the bridge, from their lane to your lesson, and from what they think to what you’re about to teach.
This is your First Five moment to foster meaning. Let that video open the door to curiosity, conversation, and connection, right into your classroom.
